HTC promises Spring surprise on March 20

Just a few days ago HTC unveiled the U Ultra and U Play smartphones and looks like the company isn't done yet and has a lot more in store. The Taiwanese-based smartphone vendor apparently has a "surprise" for the HTC fans. It says that the surprise will be revealed on March 20.

Spring Is Coming

A recent Facebook post by HTC Taiwan fan page shows that the company has something in store for March 20, which they refer to as an "Unexpected surprise". It is not clear what HTC is planning. We don't know if it is going to be a phone or if it will some other product part of HTC's VR or accessories segment. Although there are some rumours thats hint that the March 20 event, which HTC has dubbed as "Spring Is Coming", will see the company launching a new phone.

Spring Is Coming

To recall, HTC had mentioned that the company was working on the next flagship, most likely going to be HTC 11. Based on the speculations, the upcoming HTC 11 or HTC Ocean (name not yet confirmed) was going to sport the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and that means the March 20 phone may not be the flagship HTC. The availability of Snapdragon 835 is reportedly very tight. This is probably one reason why Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Xioami's Mi 6 have been delayed this year so it will be very surprising if HTC manages to announce a phone with the Snapdragon 835 on March 20.

Instead, what that company may announce is the rumoured HTC One X10, a successor of the previously announced HTC One X9. As far as this phone is concerned, there are reports that the One X10 will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD display and use the 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor. It is also likely to have 3GB RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation.

Apart from the launch of the HTC One X10, it is also possible that HTC may announce a new "green" colour variant of the recently-announce HTC U Ultra and U Play.
